Hello and welcome to the latest news from the world of Quilt n Learn

My name is Bea Byrne and I have lots to share exclusively with you, our newsletter readers!

Everything seems to be about self-care at the moment. As the seasons change we are all adjusting to clock changes, different clothing and personally I find my color preferences change along with the weather. Read on for more about how I've been approaching one aspect of self-care AND to find out about all the teachers for the next Quilt n Learn!

Bea's News

Ever fallen in love with a book? The latest installment of the UPPERCASE Encyclopedia of Inspiration is all about Notions, and I am absolutely in love. For my self-care this week I have been escaping the pressures of running a business or making samples to immerse myself in this beautiful world of both current and vintage fastenings, trims and more. As a button collector I've already been introduced to three new-to-me makers as well as reveling in the history of how the zipper was invented. I also own the "Quilted" volume in this series and will be revisiting that one next. You can see a video walk through of the book and more details at Janine's website - and while you are there you have to look at UPPERCASE magazine itself. Each issue is a work of art and I read mine cover to cover.

Giving my mind a break from the routine cares of the day is something I feel the benefits of even if it is only for 15 minutes. It's like sending my brain on a mini spa break! What are you doing to give your brain a massage?

This Month's Poll!

In the last newsletter I asked whether you had ever made a political quilt. 6% of you were currently working on one and another 6% had already finished, while the majority of you were keeping your stitching for other topics.

With the holidays fast approaching, I was wondering - do you make holiday gifts? I have in the past but now reserve them only for those I am sure will appreciate the effort! Let me know in the new poll what you do, and if you have I would love to see a photo! You can reply to this email with a photo or tag @quiltnlearn to share on facebook or Instagram.

Vote in the Poll

That is it for this time! And feel free to forward this to friends.

Bea

PS: My Fabric Weaving 101 workshop from the last Quilt n Learn event is now available for free on my website.
