"I am the creative mind behind Quilty Quill, where I bring a wealth of experience from working with industry giants like Pro-Stitcher, Handi Quilter, and Nancy Zieman Productions. Specializing in Free-Motion Quilting and Digitizing, I love empowering quilters who feel like they just don't draw to discover their artistic potential.
At Quilty Quill, break down the processes and provide the tools, resources, and methods to help students become confident artists, designers, and makers. My inventive approach to teaching turns creative challenges into opportunities for growth and fun.
I also invented the Seamingly Accurate Seam Guide which fits on the bed of any sewing machine to create accurate distances up to 5-1/4" to the right and 1-3/4" to the left of the needle position. I am the author of 5 quilt books and you may come across my quilt pattern designs in numerous magazines, previously published as ReannaLily Designs.
I made my first quilt in 1993 and have made a zillion quilts. Ok, that may be a bit of an overstatement, but on the upside, I have found quite a few new ways to streamline the drawing, quilting, and digitizing process. I look forward to seeing you in class!"

My Workshop
"Irish Chain Quilt Designs"
Irish Chain Quilts are a traditional class quilt design with a wonderful opportunity for negative space quilting. In this class we'll quickly cover a strip-piecing method to make the quilt top and then dive into how to develop an interesting design in the alternating negative space blocks. Using concepts from my book Free-Motion Framework, you'll learn to create shapes and guidelines to draw and develop your style to stitch on your home sewing machine.
In a nutshell, you'll learn:
1. Learn how to quickly strip-piece an Irish Chain quilt from 2-1/2" strips or leftover quilt binding scraps
2. Learn how to visualize the negative space for designing a fmq design motif
3. Draw variations to fit within the space. Don't worry, I'll share some simple motifs with an explanation of how to create them.
4. Decide on a motif or two from the many we create.
5. Draw directly onto the quilt with Crayola Washable Markers (or other water soluble marker) and free-motion quilt your project.
Workshops go live on July 1st!
