"I am a San Francisco-based modern quilt maker who has been drawn to art since childhood. I studied fine art photography in college and beyond, but art took a backseat for years while I built a corporate career and raised a family. In the mid-2000s, I discovered quilting and quickly became obsessed with the medium.

My quilts have been exhibited widely in local, national, and international exhibitions, earning numerous awards. I am a member of SAQA, The Modern Quilt Guild, and the San Francisco Quilters Guild, where I served as President. I am also a founding member of SFSewandSews, a collaborative quilting group.

Over the years, I have developed a wealth of tips and tricks for creating modern improv quilts, and I love sharing my process with others. I offer engaging lectures and workshops for quilters of all levels—whether you're just starting out or looking to refine your skills. My classes focus on modern and improvisational techniques, equipping quilters with the tools to create unique, expressive designs."

"Expressive Stripes"

 Stripes are one of the most effective and versatile tools in a modern quilter’s design toolbox. In Expressive Stripes, we’ll explore how to take stripes beyond the basics—using them to create movement, rhythm, and visual impact in your quilts. I’ll walk you through my process for selecting dynamic color palettes and show how hue, value, and contrast influence the effectiveness of striped compositions. You'll see how I construct structured stripe sets using ruler-free cutting and piecing techniques, and how these sets can be used as flexible building blocks for improvisational quilt designs.  Along the way, I’ll share examples from my own work, demonstrating how I’ve used stripes to explore emotion, place, and abstraction in modern quilts. You'll come away with practical tools, fresh inspiration, and a deeper understanding of how to design with stripes in ways that are both expressive and uniquely your own. This talk is ideal for quilters who want to push past predictable patterns and discover the freedom and fun of working improvisationally with stripes.
