Create Fabric Runs Fearlessly - Jennifer Houlden

Fabric Selection:
- Variety of Fabrics in a Color You LoveÂ
- Pull out many fabrics so you have choices; pile them on a table ready to play.
- No need to organize them initially; that will be part of the workshop.
- Cottons and Batiks: These work well for this project.
- Variety of Values: Include fabrics ranging from really light to really dark and everything in between.
- Fabrics with texture such as prints, geometrics, tone-on-tones, solids, multi-colored fabrics, pretty much anything goes!
Other Items:
- Natural light: if possible, but a well-lit area is most important.
- Color Wheel: (optional)
- Camera: A smartphone or tablet works great as these devices have the ability to edit photos.
Size Considerations:
- For creating a fabric run, the size doesnât matter much, but avoid going smaller than a 10" square. A 2½" strip will also work.

Margarita Time! With Accordion Sewn HSTs⢠- Beth HelfterÂ
My scrappy patterns, especially those featuring Accordion Sewn HSTsTM, are designed to use as many different fabrics as possible from the same color families. Therefore, for the scrappy parts of the supply list, Iâll use different language than you may be used to as your fabric pulls are not based on yardage. My advice â choose your colors, and pull every fabric you own from your stash that fits them, and youâll only cut one square from each when we get to that part. Youâll get the most scrappy bang for your buck that way, and I know you have more fabrics than you think you do!
The fabric supplies below will make one 9 1â2â x 12 1â2â (9â x 12â finished) block, which we will create in class.
- Â Â Background: One fat quarter
- Â Â Fruity-colored scraps: 15 different fabric scraps in "margarita-y" colors
